IT ALL BEGAN ON TRACK

Passion for Racing
I’ve always been crazy about automobiles. In the beginning, having a car was all about freedom and independence for me. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to pick up a proper high-performance sports car. After getting a handle on both the car’s and my limits, I realized a lifelong dream and got on track. It was on track where I would experience exhilaration and a develop my will to win.

MY INTRODUCTION TO SIM RACING
Driving on track is risky business – risky to yourself and to your ride. Eventually my luck ran out when my car suffered a catastrophic failure. The failure was so catastrophic that it would take two seasons to get it fixed. During this extended hiatus from the track, I was very concerned about my race craft going stale. I was lucky when a friend introduced me to sim racing. I immediately determined that sim racing would be the avenue to keeping my skills sharp and maybe even improving before I could get back on track.

MY FIRST BUILD
My first build was my build. It would take me many months to research everything from chassis, wheelbases, pedals, steering wheels, shifters, and handbrakes to gaming PCs, monitors and stands. While I was researching and designing my setup, I was sharing what I learned with other people going through the same sort of journey. The biggest lesson I learned was there were very few organizations that could translate a racer’s needs to designs that they could easily purchase.

INITIAL TEST BUILDS
I wanted to test whether anyone would find value in what I learned and the skills I had acquired with my own build. I approached several interested parties and two people decided to hire me. One was an amateur racer who had recently relocated and wanted a safe and cost-effective way of learning the tracks surrounding his new home. Having access to a sim rig in his home, he was able to develop skills and get experience with both the local tracks and his fellow competitors without putting himself or his race car at risk. This was also much less costly if you consider transportation, track rental, and overhead costs such as race fuel.
Another client has a very different use case. He is an entrepreneur and one of his businesses involves selling classic automobiles, boats, planes, and helicopters to customers all over the world. I helped him build a combination rig that supports driving, racing, fixed wing flight and rotary wing flight. He uses this rig to allow his customers to test drive potential purchases. Imagine being able to test drive a $4M classic Ferrari or experience the thrill of flying a luxury jet! -
EXPANDING ONLINE
I’ve learned that there are many types of sim racers. There are racers that are just beginning, are serious enthusiasts, or interested in being esports professionals. There are people who race occasionally, a few times a week, or every day. Increasingly, there are skilled sim racers that are being recruited into the world of motorsports in the real world. There are sim racers that are looking to build their own sim rig, want a little bit of help, or want their dream rig built for them so they can go racing as quickly as possible.
P1 Sim Sports was formed to help all of them. We offer our knowhow, our experience with an ever-growing market of components, our skill in designing and building unique and innovative simulators, and expertise on how to get the most out of it all.
